Harsewinkel, Germany - CLAAS KGaA mbH., an agricultural machinery manufacturer, has officially broken ground on a new multifunctional tractor production facility at its Le Mans site in France. This expansion marks a major step forward in the company's long-term strategy to boost manufacturing capabilities and support the anticipated growth of its tractor business over the next decade.

The ceremonial groundbreaking was attended by CLAAS senior management, including Chief Operating Officer Thomas Spiering, and Stéphane Le Foll, Mayor of Le Mans and former French Minister of Agriculture. All necessary building and operational permits have been secured, reaffirming CLAAS’s commitment to the region and its importance within the company's global production network.

Mr. Thomas Spiering, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Claas Group, said, “Le Mans is the heart of our global tractor business. It increases our operational flexibility, supports further vertical integration and expands our capacity to act in the global production network. At the same time, it strengthens our long-term partnership with the region Pays de la Loire.”

The 3,800-square-meter multifunctional building is expected to be completed by end-2026. It will enhance on-site logistics, reduce transportation needs, and improve overall product quality and efficiency. These upgrades aim to deliver better value to customers while reinforcing sustainability goals.

CLAAS has operated its Le Mans tractor plant since acquiring Renault Agriculture in 2003, producing more than 200,000 tractors for international markets. In addition to the main facility, CLAAS operates a test and validation center in Trangé and a development site in Vélizy. The Le Mans plant manufactures Axion and Arion series tractors ranging from 75 to 450 horsepower.

Over the years, the company has steadily modernized the Le Mans site with a new cab pre-assembly line, a flexible main assembly line, an advanced paint shop, and the CLAAS Academy training center. The upcoming multifunctional production facility is the latest milestone in CLAAS’s vision to transform Le Mans into a future-ready manufacturing hub.

This strategic investment not only strengthens CLAAS’s production capabilities but also deepens its ties with the Pays de la Loire region, highlighting the company's ongoing dedication to innovation and sustainable agricultural development.
