Maharashtra -Clean Electric Pvt Ltd., an energy storage solutions startup company, has launched a rapid recharging battery technology that fully charges electric vehicles in under 12 minutes. This innovation slashes current EV charging times of 60 to 120 minutes and is supported by Kalaari Capital. Using universal CCS 2 DC charging standards, the technology ensures compatibility across all EV models form factors, promising to transform the automotive industry.

Mr.Akash Gupta,CEO at Clean Electric, said, the company's fireproof batteries had been tested for 3700 rapid charge cycles with only 11% degradation in the overall range. The energy storage solution firm manufactures the batteries at its manufacturing facility in Pune, the plant is well equipped to produce up to 1200 battery packs per month.

Last year, the company raised $2.2 million (Rs 18 crore) in funding, led by Kalaari Capital. Other participants in the seed funding round included Climate Angels, LV Fund, 7Square Ventures, and CIIE Regional Innovation Foundation.

Clean Electric has developed innovative battery architectures including Direct Contact Liquid Cooling (DCLC) for e-4W & large systems, Self-contained Adaptive Active Liquid Cooling (SCALC) for e-2W & e-3W, and DCLC with Integrated Cell to Pack (CTP) technology. These advancements promise safer batteries, mitigate thermal risks, enable rapid charging, and enhance EV range efficiency without degradation.

Mr.Ankit Joshi, Chief Product Officer at Clean Electric, said, “This is a revolutionary moment for all of us at Clean Electric, our proprietary 12-minute charging technology sets a new global standard that will drive the EV industry forward. Committed to sustainability, we strive to democratize RAPID Charging for EVs coupled with long battery life, reducing environmental impact and shaping the future of electric vehicles.”

The company is currently working with EV OEMs in electric cars, electric two-wheelers, electric three-wheelers, electric LCVs, and established startups to address major roadblocks to enable mass adoption.

Clean Electric recently demonstrated in Pune, showcasing a 2.2 kWh e-2W battery and a 12.5 kWh e-3W model. These vehicles charge from 0-80% in just 10 minutes using BIS-approved Type 6 and Bharat DC-001 chargers, along with globally accepted CCS 2 DC Public Charger, making it the world's fastest-charging production EVs.
