DAF joins international platform for booking charging stations

Eindhoven, Netherlands- DAF Truck N.V., a commercial vehicle manufacturer, has joined HDV Booking, a consortium focused on creating a platform for reserving public charging points for trucks across Europe. This initiative aims to boost the availability of fully electric DAF trucks, especially for long-distance travel. HDV Booking brings together charging facility providers, card reader systems, transporters, and software developers to develop a platform that allows transporters to locate and reserve charging points. This will streamline route planning, reduce waiting times, and enable longer, even international, journeys. The platform is expected to be fully operational throughout Europe by 2026.

Mr. Bart Bosmans, Director Marketing & Sales and a member of the Board of Management at DAF Trucks, highlights that an optimal booking system requires integration of electric vehicles, charging points, and planning software. "Considering factors like traffic and driver rest will enhance the use of both public charging infrastructure and electric trucks," he notes. With the XD and XF Electric trucks offering a zero-emission range of up to 500 km—and extending to 1,000 km with strategic charging during breaks—DAF is committed to long-distance electric transport. Bosmans underscores that DAF’s partnership with HDV Booking and its comprehensive range of electric trucks, charging stations, and expert support emphasizes its role in the energy transition.
