Eindhoven, Netherlands- DAF Trucks N.V., a truck manufacturing company, is expanding its vehicle portfolio with a new range of purpose-built chassis designed specifically for car transport applications. These new models are engineered with ultra-low chassis heights and are available across DAF’s New Generation line-up, including the XD, XF, XG, and XG+ series. Thanks to a range of technical enhancements, these new trucks maximise usable space while remaining within the legal vehicle height limit of 4 metres.
The new car transporter range is a significantly lowered chassis. DAF has made extensive use of low-deck technology, reducing suspension height by 4 centimetres and fitting 22.5-inch wheels with low-profile tyres. These changes result in a chassis height of just 83 centimetres — ideal for efficient vehicle loading and transport.
The new transporter chassis are available in all cabin variants, including the compact XD and the premium XF, XG, and XG+ models. For enhanced versatility, the XD series includes options with an ultra-low (18 cm) or slanted roof, allowing vehicles to be securely loaded above the cab. Despite its compact build, the XD cab retains ample space for a full working and resting environment, including a full-size bed for the driver.
DAF offers a broad range of wheelbase options, tailored to various transport needs. In addition to standard 4x2 configurations, the range includes 6x2 variants designed for greater payloads. These models are equipped with a lightweight 4.5-tonne leading axle and 17.5-inch wheels, further enhancing load capacity without compromising efficiency.
As with DAF’s latest truck generation, the car transporter range incorporates cutting-edge technologies aimed at optimising fuel efficiency and reducing emissions. These include enhanced PACCAR MX-11 and MX-13 engines, designed to extract maximum energy from every litre of fuel. Predictive Cruise Control comes standard, helping to improve fuel economy and reduce CO₂ output.
Safety is a top priority in DAF’s new transporter chassis. Features such as the DAF Digital Vision System and DAF Corner View provide superior visibility critical for operating in tight urban spaces. Large windscreens and low belt lines further enhance driver awareness, contributing to safer driving and delivery operations.
With these new specialised chassis, DAF is setting a new benchmark in the car transport segment, combining advanced engineering with practical innovations to deliver maximum efficiency, flexibility, and safety.
Mr. Bart Bosmans, member of the DAF Board of Management and responsible for Marketing & Sales, said, “With the introduction of this new series of chassis, we are providing a tailor-made solution for the transport of cars, trucks and tractors. The new chassis can be ordered straight from our DAF dealers, including any specific adjustments that may be required. All part of our DAF Transport Efficiency policy.”
