Leinfelden-Echterdingen / Darmstadt, Germany- Daimler Truck AG., has handed over five new fully electric Mercedes-Benz eCitaro solo buses to HEAG mobile GmbH., marking a significant milestone as the Darmstadt-based mobility provider now operates an entirely electric fleet of solo buses. The official handover took place on Wednesday, 23 April 2025, at the Böllenfalltor depot. Rüdiger Kappel, Head of Public Transport Sales Germany at Daimler Buses, and André Herrmann, Public Transport Authority Business at Daimler Buses, presented the vehicles to HEAG mobilo Managing Directors Johannes Gregor and Arne Rath.
Each of the three-door eCitaro buses is powered by the latest NMC3 battery technology, equipped with six battery packs delivering a total capacity of 588 kWh. These depot-charged vehicles are designed for high-range urban service and feature dual charging sockets located near the front axle on both sides.
Beyond electrification, HEAG mobilo places high value on passenger safety and comfort. The new narcissus yellow buses accommodate up to 70 passengers and are equipped with an array of advanced assistance systems, including:
Preventive Brake Assist 2 with extended pedestrian and cyclist detection, Frontguard Assist, alerting the driver to obstacles in front of the vehicle, Sideguard Assist 2, which monitors both sides for collision risks during turning, Traffic Sign Assist, a speed assistant system, TPM Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, ensuring optimal tyre conditions, Attention Assist and Eco Driver Feedback, enhancing driver awareness and efficiency.
Inside, the buses are fully video-monitored with four surveillance cameras and equipped with roll and pitch control to counterbalance the battery weight mounted on the roof. Passenger comfort is further enhanced by an air conditioning system using eco-friendly R744 refrigerant and heat pump technology, 26 cobalt blue, saffron yellow, and tin grey seats, USB charging ports, a large-format infotainment display (29-inch, 32:9), a folding ramp, and a designated area with wheelchair and mother/child seating. The driver benefits from HEAG-specific all-round glazing separating the cab from the passenger area.
Each bus includes the Bus Data Centre as standard, enabling connectivity to Omniplus digital services. HEAG mobilo utilizes Omniplus On Uptime pro to transmit real-time diagnostics to workshops, minimizing maintenance downtime. Additionally, Omniplus On monitor supports time-saving remote downloads of driver card data and mass storage, as well as detailed energy consumption analysis.
With this delivery, Daimler Buses and HEAG mobilo continue to lead the transition toward a cleaner, safer, and smarter future in public urban mobility.
