Daimler Buses India, part of the Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, launched the 15-metre luxury coach, which it claimed was the lightest in the class and offered more power and comfort.
Date: June 5, 2018Chennai- Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. (DICV) of Chennai, a subsidiary of the German Daimler AG unveiled its latest flagship product Mercedes-Benz 2441 Super High Deck1 bus, manufactured from Oragadam Plant, Chennai.

In 2017, Daimler Buses India recorded[Rk1] sales of 906 units in domestic market up by 80 per cent from the previous year. In 2016, it had sold 501 units. Besides serving the domestic market, Daimler Buses India ships nine and 16-tonne range of buses to Africa, Latin America, the Middle East and South East Asian markets, company officials said.
Thomas Fricke, Managing Director, Daimler Buses India said "As the Indian bus market is evolving, we lead the shift with products that meet global standards of performance and safety,".
"With superior technology, we aim to be the benchmark in terms of total cost of ownership, safety and comfort," Thomas added.
1Mercedes-Benz 2441 Super High Deck (SHD) of 15m length is powered with OM457 six-cylinder, water-cooled, BS IV engine developing maximum power of 408 hp, and 1,900 Nm of peak torque, matched with ZF Ecolife 6 AP 2000B six-speed automatic unit. This luxury coach offers 14 cu m of luggage space, with seating configuration ranging from 51 to 59 seats. The coach has been built with a unique aluminique body, which is an aluminium-based material, making it the lightest vehicle in its class and contributing to fuel efficiency. With an active steerable tag axle, it features a low turning circle diameter to effortlessly navigate sharp turns and bends. It also has an advanced braking system and a strategically positioned fuel tank for added safety.
