India/Germany– Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), the manufacturer of BharatBenz trucks and buses, has highlighted India’s growing strategic role within Daimler Truck following the formation of the Mercedes-Benz Trucks ISEAA customer region covering India, South-East Asia and Australia-Pacific.
Under Daimler Truck’s new operating structure, Mercedes-Benz Trucks is organized into four customer regions: Europe, LAMEA, China and ISEAA. DICV will serve as the anchor entity for ISEAA, strengthening India’s position as a manufacturing, engineering and export hub for the group.
DICV has exported more than 75,000 trucks and buses and over 330 million components to more than 70 international markets. Its Chennai facility also supplies medium-duty transmissions to Daimler Truck plants in Germany.
The ISEAA region covers 42 countries with a combined population of nearly 2.8 billion people. Daimler Truck expects commercial vehicle demand across the region to grow by more than 5% annually, creating significant long-term opportunities.
Alongside its expanded regional responsibilities, DICV is accelerating BharatBenz product development in India. The company is preparing its truck and bus portfolio with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) adapted for Indian operating conditions and future safety regulations.
BharatBenz is also expanding the use of Daimler Truck technologies such as Torqshift Automated Manual Transmission (AMT), which is designed to improve driver comfort, reduce fatigue, enhance operating efficiency and lower total cost of ownership.
Mr. Torsten Schmidt, CEO & Managing Director, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles and President Mercedes-Benz Trucks Customer Region ISEAA, said, "India has long been an important market for Daimler Truck and the home of BharatBenz. Through the new ISEAA customer region, we are bringing India, South-East Asia and Australia-Pacific closer together to strengthen collaboration, share capabilities and respond faster to customer needs across these markets. DICV serves as the anchor entity for the region, building on its established strengths in manufacturing, engineering and exports. For our customers in India, BharatBenz remains focused on delivering products and services designed specifically for local operating conditions, while benefiting from the scale, expertise and collaboration of the broader Mercedes-Benz Trucks segment.”
DICV is strengthening its customer support ecosystem through BharatBenz TruckConnect, a digital fleet management platform that helps customers monitor vehicle performance and improve fleet efficiency.
The company said its Rakshana service assurance programme currently services and delivers more than 98% of vehicles within 48 hours. BharatBenz plans to increase its service network from 430 touchpoints to 600 by 2030, with greater coverage across northern, eastern and north-eastern India.
DICV is also continuing to invest in its Indian operations. The company recently announced an additional investment of around ₹4,000 crore in Tamil Nadu, taking its cumulative investment in India to more than ₹14,500 crore. The investment will support manufacturing capacity, R&D, future technologies and product development.
DICV currently operates with approximately 92% localization and works with more than 400 local suppliers, further strengthening its manufacturing base and supporting the development of products for both Indian and global markets.
