Ditch Witch Launches High-Performance W8 Hydrovac Truck

Perry, Oklahoma - Ditch Witch., a brand of Charles Machine Works and a construction equipment manufacturer, has launched W8 hydrovac truck delivers the same powerful vacuum performance as the W12 but in a more compact design for smaller jobsites. As the second model in the Warlock series of large truck vacs, the W8 features an 8-inch dig tube, an 800-gallon water capacity, and an 8-cubic-yard (1,600-gallon) spoils tank. In comparison, the W12 is equipped with a larger 12-cubic-yard debris tank.

According to Ditch Witch, the W8’s compact size and tight turning radius make it perfect for potholing, slot trenching, and cleanup tasks in urban and residential areas. Despite its smaller footprint, it delivers the same 27-inch-Hg vacuum power as the W12. A 370-horsepower Paccar PX-9 engine drives both the vacuum and water system.

The W8 features an airflow rate of 3,800 cubic feet per minute, enabling efficient movement of large material volumes. Its 26-foot boom, with 340-degree rotation, allows contractors to cover more area without repositioning the truck. Additionally, a water heater ensures hot water availability for excavation in cold weather.

Operators can track the total truck weight in real time using the onboard scale, which automatically shuts off suction upon reaching the weight limit. A tiltable debris tank and fully opening door simplify material offloading. Additional features include intuitive controls, a PTO-driven engine, and dual 600-gallon saddle tanks. An optional air system is available to power auxiliary pneumatic tools.

The Ditch Witch W8 hydrovac truck measures 31 feet 2 inches in length, 8 feet 6 inches in width, and 10 feet 9 inches in height. It has an estimated dry weight of 36,400 pounds and a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 66,000 pounds. The water pump delivers a maximum flow of 18.5 gallons per minute at a pressure of up to 2,800 psi. For freshwater storage, the truck is equipped with dual tanks, each with a capacity of 400 gallons. The W8 is equipped with premium components to optimize performance and minimize maintenance costs.
