Borgo Panigale, Bologna, Italy- Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A., has launched the new Desmo450 SM, its first racing supermoto motorcycle. Unveiled during World Ducati Week, the motorcycle is based on the Desmo450 MX platform and has been specifically developed for Supermoto racing.
The Desmo450 SM features a Showa 49mm fully adjustable upside-down fork with 280mm of travel and Kashima Coating. At the rear, it gets a fully adjustable Showa shock with a progressive linkage and 295mm of wheel travel. The suspension has been specifically tuned for Supermoto riding.
The motorcycle uses 16.5-inch front and 17-inch rear Excel rims with a Bartubeless system and Metzeler Racetec Slick SM tyres. Braking is handled by a Brembo Stylema radial caliper with a 310mm Galfer front disc, while the rear gets a 240mm Galfer disc with a Brembo caliper.
Power comes from a 449.6cc single-cylinder Desmo450 engine producing 63.5 hp at 9,400 rpm and 39.5 lb-ft of torque at 7,500 rpm. The motorcycle also features a Desmodromic valve train, active Quick Shift and a Suter slipper clutch designed to assist riders during corner entry.
The Desmo450 SM introduces Ducati Traction Control specifically calibrated for Supermoto riding. The system offers four levels of adjustment and can also be switched off. Other electronic features include Launch Control, Engine Brake Control and two Riding Modes, which can be configured through the X-Link app.
The motorcycle is finished in Ducati Red and features an aluminium frame, cast aluminium swingarm and a 7.2-litre fuel tank. Maintenance includes piston replacement and valve-clearance checks every 45 hours, while a full engine overhaul is scheduled at 90 hours.
The Ducati Desmo450 SM will arrive at selected European dealerships from December 2026, followed by other global markets.
