Karlskrona, Sweden - Dynapac Compaction Equipment AB., a road construction equipment manufacturer, has launched the CP28 pneumatic tire roller, a major milestone for the company. The CP28 is the heaviest ballastable roller on the market, designed for both asphalt and soil compaction. Featuring a unique staggered design with four wheels at the front and rear, it offers a ballast range from 21,000 to 68,000 pounds, adjustable with steel plates or materials like wet sand, water, steel shot, and scrap metal.
This powerful roller is capable of reaching speeds of up to 12 mph, making it a versatile option for various compaction tasks. Additionally, it comes equipped with EcoMode and EcoSave technology, which helps optimize fuel efficiency by maintaining the lowest possible engine rpm and automatically shutting off the engine when the machine idles for too long.
To ensure superior performance, each of the CP28’s tires is equipped with its own sprinkler system, scraper bar, and cocoa mat to prevent asphalt from sticking to the tires. The roller is powered by a 134-horsepower F 3.8 Cummins engine and has a substantial footprint, measuring nearly 17 feet in length, 6.8 feet in width, and 9.8 feet in height.
The CP28 features an upgraded operator station with a choice of symmetrical or asymmetrical cab for clear visibility. It includes a 7-inch touch screen and a swiveling keypad for easy control access. Additionally, the "Air on the Run" system allows quick tire pressure adjustments from 0 to 12 psi in about 12 minutes, improving compaction efficiency.
The CP28 features a new front suspension that tilts and oscillates during proof rolling, ensuring constant tire contact for better compaction. The front offers 4.5-degree lateral oscillation and 1.5-degree tilt, while the rear provides 2-degree tilt, enhancing overall performance. With these upgrades, the CP28 is set to revolutionize the pneumatic tire roller market, offering greater flexibility, comfort, and compaction efficiency.
