EKA Mobility and Greencell Mobility have signed an MoU to introduce 1000 inter-city electric buses, ranging from 12 to 13.5 meters, over the next few years, aiming to set new sustainability standards in commercial electric mobility for India.
Date: January 4, 2024Pune- EKA Mobility Ltd., and Greencell Mobility Pvt. Ltd., have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), outlining their collaboration to introduce 1000 inter-city electric buses in the 12 and 13.5-meter categories over the next few years.
Dr. Sudhir Mehta, the Founder and Chairman of EKA Mobility, expressed optimism about the venture, emphasizing that intercity bus transportation serves as the primary mode of travel for over 50% of Indians. He highlighted the partnership's potential to establish new benchmarks in commercial electric mobility, thereby significantly contributing to the nation's sustainability goals.
Devndra Chawla, the Managing Director and CEO of Greencell Mobility echoed these sentiments, stating that the partnership not only enhances their market position but also aligns seamlessly with their long-term vision for sustainable mobility.
Under the terms of the agreement, EKA Mobility will handle the supply, sales, and service aspects of the electric buses, in addition to delivering quality certification reports.
This collaboration follows EKA Mobility's recent announcement of an INR 850 crore partnership with Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (Japan) and VDL Groep (Netherlands). The purpose of this collaboration is to establish cutting-edge global Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in the region.
