This partnership, starting with 50 stations in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, aims to accelerate electric vehicle adoption with convenient, efficient, and affordable battery exchange options.
Date: June 24, 2024NewDelhi-ElectroRide and Battery Smart are partnering to establish battery swapping stations at 2,500 locations across India within the next five years. During the initial stage, Battery Smart plans to establish 50 swap stations at various ElectroRide sites throughout Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
The partnership aims to simplify, make economical, and enhance the efficiency of adopting electric mobility by expanding EV swapping infrastructure. This aligns with Battery Smart's objective of ensuring EV users have convenient access to swap stations within a 1 km radius without any waiting time.
Mr.Rahul Goenka, Director of Electro Ride, said, “The deployment of 2,500 battery swapping stations is a testament to our vision for a sustainable and accessible electric vehicle infrastructure in India. The strategic placement of these stations aims to cater to the needs of urban and intercity electric vehicle commuters, fostering a paradigm shift towards cleaner and efficient mobility solutions.”
Established in June 2020, Battery Smart has expanded to 1000 stations across 30 cities, facilitating over 35 million battery swaps. Through Battery Smart’s innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, electric vehicle users can efficiently exchange depleted batteries for fully charged ones in just 2 minutes.
Mr.Nishant Garg, Senior Director – Expansion, Battery Smart, said, “We are excited to partner with ElectroRide as they continue strengthening India’s EV infrastructure. With the growing adoption and acceptance of electric vehicles nationwide, it is crucial to expand access to battery swapping stations. This will enable two and three-wheeler EV users to benefit from the convenience, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency that battery swapping offers.”
In the next phases of the project, ElectroRide aims to rapidly expand its network, extending coverage to additional regions for widespread accessibility. As part of its last-mile mobility solutions, the company plans to deploy 30,000 vehicles equipped with battery swapping technology to increase their operational range.
