Erlangen, Germany- Elektrobit Automotive GmbH., an automotive software company and developer has signed a joint development agreement (JDA) with Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn), an electronics manufacturers. Together, they will co-develop EV.OS, a flexible, AI-centric software platform aimed at accelerating the shift toward software-defined electric vehicles.

Elektrobit and Foxconn are joining forces to develop a smart electric vehicle platform, EV.OS, that integrates both hardware and software to drive industry-first innovations in scalable supply chains. United by a shared vision, the two companies aim to deliver advanced automotive platform solutions that simplify complexity, reduce total cost of ownership, enhance production scalability, and accelerate the commoditization of mobility—ultimately benefiting consumers.

The smart EV platform will feature a reference E/E architecture (EV.EEA), a standardized, non-differentiating EV operating system, and a suite of EV applications. Once complete, EV.OS and EV.EEA will serve as the foundation for a future-ready software-defined vehicle (SDV) platform. Powered by Elektrobit’s software integration expertise, the platform will support multiple high-performance and real-time ECUs, and enable service-oriented architectures across all functional domains. It will also include a semantic vehicle API to facilitate third-party application development.

The development process will be driven by a robust CI/CT/CD toolchain and supported by a Level 3 virtualized environment, ensuring efficiency and scalability throughout the lifecycle.

Ms. Maria Anhalt, CEO of Elektrobit, said, “Elektrobit has a unique value proposition in automotive embedded software development with regards to both development of our own software products, and integration and homologation of large-scale automotive series projects. Our collaboration with Foxconn is another milestone in the evolution of software-defined vehicles. By combining Elektrobit’s automotive software expertise with Foxconn’s manufacturing and hardware innovation, we are creating a scalable platform that reduces complexity, shortens development cycles and supports future mobility business models.”
