Berlin, Germany - Escarda Technologies GmbH., an agricultural weed control system provider, has introduced its innovative CE-certified laser weed control system to the market, following extensive development and testing. The AI-powered, herbicide-free solution can detect weeds as small as 3 mm, offering a sustainable and precise alternative to traditional weed control methods.

The new system uses high-precision laser technology, eliminating weeds without chemicals or soil damage, making it suitable for both organic and conventional farming. Certified by the German testing institute Dekra, the system adheres to a strict safety concept, ensuring reliable operation in the field.

The Escarda system combines advanced laser technology with a powerful camera mounted on a tractor. The camera continuously captures images of the field, which are then analyzed in real time by an AI system. When the AI detects a weed alongside a crop, it activates a precision laser to destroy the weed at its root. The system is capable of identifying weeds as small as 3 mm, ensuring early-stage, efficient removal.

Currently, the system is trained to recognize weeds in crops like carrots, sugar beets, and tomatoes, with plans to expand its capabilities to include onions, garlic, asparagus, parsnips, and strawberries. The system is already being used by pilot customers, including Morningstar, California’s largest tomato processor.

A standout feature of the Escarda system is its compact, modular design. The single-row laser unit weighs just 400 kg and can be operated with a 60-horsepower tractor, offering flexibility for various farm sizes. The modular setup allows farmers to scale up by using up to eight laser units simultaneously, making it suitable for both small farms and large agricultural operations.

Escarda’s innovative approach to weed control promises a sustainable, effective, and customizable solution, marking a significant step forward in precision farming technology.
