Uttar Pradesh - Escorts Kubota Limited., an agricultural machinery manufacturer, is set to establish a state-of-the-art tractor manufacturing facility along the Yamuna Expressway, with an investment of $540 million (₹4,500 crore). The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) will allocate 190 acres in Sector 10 for the project.
The Uttar Pradesh government formalized the plan by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the company on August 17, 2024. The project is expected to create nearly 4,000 jobs in a phased rollout.
YEIDA officials confirmed that the proposed plant will be a greenfield facility aimed at improving production efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Escorts Kubota also intends to establish shared services in India to support Kubota’s global research and development (R&D) operations.
According to YEIDA OSD Shailendra Bhatia, the company will invest $240 million (₹2,000 crore) in the first phase to build the tractor plant, a commercial equipment unit, and related infrastructure. The second phase will be taken up based on demand and full utilization of the initial capacity.
Formed in 2019 through a strategic partnership between India’s Escorts and Japan’s Kubota, Escorts Kubota focuses on developing value-oriented tractors for Indian and overseas markets. The Yamuna Expressway project is expected to position India as a key global hub for tractors, engines, and other agricultural and construction machinery.
Officials said the investment reflects growing confidence in Uttar Pradesh’s pro-industry policies and efficient land allotment process. Final land allocation will be completed following approvals from the Invest UP Empowered Committee and other regulatory clearances.
