DHL in Malmö adds six electric FUSO eCanter 8.55t trucks, perfect for urban distribution, as recommended by Veho Import AB.
Date: November 12, 2024Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Sweden- Falkenklev Logistik AB., a transport and logistics company, has expanding its electric fleet with six FUSO eCanter 9C18e trucks for DHL operations in Malmö. The 8.55-tonne vehicles, featuring a 4,750 mm wheelbase and 15 pallet spaces, are ideal for urban distribution with a range of up to 140 km. CEO Victor Falkenklev, confident in the eCanter's suitability, ordered the trucks without a test drive, as they perfectly meet the needs of Malmö's stop-and-go traffic.
Mr. Marcus Sjöberg, sales representative at Veho import AB in Malmö, said, Veho Bil Sverige AB, the general importer for Malmö, equipped the new FUSO eCanter with an additional step at the entrance, catering to drivers transitioning from larger trucks. The eCanter also features a roof spoiler and side wind deflectors for improved efficiency and a sleek, unified look. Veho is proud to support Falkenklev Logistik in its electric transformation, providing a detailed driver training program for the official handover.
Victor Falkenklev, founder of Falkenklev Logistik, built Sweden's first and largest charging station for heavy vehicles in Malmö Arlöv, featuring 22 CCS2 charging points and a battery storage system. The facility, which supports up to 350 kW for trucks and cars, was initially designed to charge the company's electric fleet using energy from its solar park in Perstorp. Over time, it evolved into a public charging park. Falkenklev also leads Rifil Laddpark, which has expanded to Perstorp and is planning three more locations in Skåne.
Victor Falkenklev envisions a fully electrified fleet for Falkenklev Logistik, with plans to equip every available surface with solar panels, making the company self-sufficient in energy within a year. While running on diesel could be more profitable, he is committed to sustainability in the transport industry. Falkenklev also sees financial opportunities in battery storage, as Swedish energy suppliers pay for stabilizing the grid, which could include the large batteries in his electric trucks, potentially earning money even when stationary.
Mr. Philip Flygare, Head of Sales & Marketing at Veho Import AB, distributor for FUSO Trucks in Sweden, is convinced that the eCanter will establish itself in Sweden thanks to its vehicle characteristics and versatility: "I see it as the perfect vehicle for this segment of electrically powered light distribution vehicles. That's why we decided to bring the eCanter to Sweden. Even though FUSO is a brand that is not yet known on the local market, it is part of Daimler Truck and stands for a mature and high-quality product." During the course of the year, the general importer plans to attend trade fairs throughout Sweden with various versions of the eCanter, thus raising awareness of the vehicle. And the signs are not bad: "While we were preparing the eCanter for Falkenklev Logistik, another customer discovered it in the yard. He also ordered one immediately," says Veho salesman Marcus Sjöberg, laughing, "the FUSO eCanter has obviously arrived in Sweden."
