Sydney, Australia- Geely Auto officially launched the all-new Geely EX5 EM-i (also marketed as the Starray EM-i in select regions), marking the company’s first hybrid model to enter international markets. With this debut, Geely strengthens its global electrified portfolio, now offering both pure electric and hybrid powertrains. Positioned in the competitive C-segment, the long-range plug-in hybrid SUV combines ultra-low fuel consumption, extended driving capabilities, and spacious comfort with a modern design aimed at redefining the hybrid SUV market.

The EX5 EM-i is the first model to feature Geely’s EM-i (E-Motive Intelligence) Super Hybrid System, which integrates an advanced electric-petrol driveline for improved efficiency, reduced emissions, and uncompromised performance. The system pairs a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine (73 kW, 125 N·m) with a powerful electric motor (160 kW, 320 N·m). Built on the advanced GEA architecture, the SUV delivers intelligent driving functions, generous interior space, and intuitive in-car interactions for an enhanced driving and passenger experience.

Designed for drivers who seek efficient performance and long-distance travel freedom without relying on charging infrastructure, the EX5 EM-i offers a driving range of up to 943 km (NEDC) and a pure electric range of up to 83 km (WLTP) for daily zero-emission commuting. This balance of extended range and electric capability ensures both convenience for everyday use and confidence for long road trips.

Mr. Evin Ye, Vice President of Geely Auto International and General Manager of Geely Auto Australia, said, “The Geely EX5 EM-i represents a new chapter in our e-mobility strategy. By bringing premium technologies from higher segments into this accessible PHEV model, we deliver on Geely’s core promise — making smart and sustainable cars mainstream.”

Following its Australian debut, the EX5 EM-i will be introduced to additional international markets, including Poland, Indonesia, Thailand, Mexico, and other strategic regions in the near future.
