Montevideo, Uruguay- Geely Auto has officially unveiled the Geely EX5 at the Hotel Cottage in Montevideo, attended by over 110 guests including Grupo Fiancar executives, Geely representatives, media, and key opinion leaders. The launch marks another milestone in Geely’s expansion in Uruguay’s automotive market.

The EX5 introduces the next generation of Geely’s electric SUVs, featuring elegant design, long range, and advanced interior comfort. As the first model built on the new GEA platform, it integrates cutting-edge technology and intelligent connectivity for a modern, safe driving experience.

At the event, Geely also introduced its new customer brand “GEELY · GO”, aimed at strengthening user engagement through events, pop-ups, and community initiatives.

Uruguay, a leader in Latin America’s NEV adoption, saw one in five cars sold in July 2025 being electric—with even higher ratios in Montevideo and Canelones. Supported by tax incentives, demand for EVs continues to grow rapidly.

Looking ahead, Geely plans to expand its local lineup with more BEV and PHEV models, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and sustainable mobility in the region.

Mr. Richard Lempert, CEO of Grupo Fiancar, said, “Representing Geely Auto for over ten years, we have witnessed continuous innovation and advancement with each new model. Since it ventured into electromobility, the leaps in quality and performance have been enormous. The Geely EX5 is comfortable in the city, very stable and safe on the highway, and its range allows for versatile use. We've seen interest from young families to older couples and people looking for an electric vehicle with great comfort.”
