SAN FRANCISCO, USA - Genesis, a luxury vehicle brand owned by the South Korean conglomerate Hyundai Motor Group, has introduced the GV90, its first full-size flagship SUV, marking a new chapter in the brand’s electrification journey. Unveiled in San Francisco, the model will be offered in GV90 and GV90 Neolun variants.
Based on the NEOLUN concept revealed in 2024, the production-ready GV90 reflects Genesis’ focus on premium hospitality, refined design and the thoughtful integration of advanced technology.
Mr. Euisun Chung, Executive Chair of Hyundai Motor Group, said “The GV90 as more than a new vehicle, calling it a fresh vision for luxury mobility that combines distinctive design, AI-driven software, connectivity and advanced safety. He emphasized that true luxury comes from how technology and design improve the customer experience in meaningful and intuitive ways. According to Chung, Genesis aims to deliver this through craftsmanship, authenticity, innovation and a strong commitment to excellence.”
Genesis has introduced the GV90 as its new flagship electric SUV, designed to combine luxury, advanced technology, safety and refined driving performance. Built on the dedicated eMP platform, the model reflects the brand’s “Son-nim” hospitality philosophy, which focuses on treating every customer as an honored guest.
The GV90 will be offered in two versions: the standard GV90 with conventional doors and the GV90 Neolun, which features the distinctive Neolun Arch Gate. This system uses independently opening coach doors with a hidden B-pillar, creating a wider and more spacious entry area. Genesis has reinforced the body structure with high-strength steel beams, an integrated roll-cage structure and additional structural support to maintain crash safety.
Safety is a major focus of the GV90. The SUV is equipped with 12 airbags, including what Genesis describes as the world’s first Roof Airbag, designed to protect occupants during severe rollover situations. The vehicle also includes an in-cabin monitoring system, reinforced body construction, advanced battery protection and Thermal Runaway Protection technology to reduce the risk of heat spreading between battery cells.
The GV90 is powered by a 123.5 kWh high-voltage battery, the largest battery currently used in a Hyundai Motor Group electric vehicle. Genesis estimates a driving range of around 500 km for the seven-seat version. With a 350 kW fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 22 minutes.
Its dual-motor system produces up to 490 kW and 800 Nm of torque. The SUV also features Dual Electronic Limited Slip Differential, multi-chamber air suspension and rear-wheel steering to improve handling, ride comfort and maneuverability. The rear wheels can turn by up to five degrees, helping reduce the turning radius while improving stability at higher speeds.
Inside, the GV90 offers a spacious cabin with a 3,245 mm wheelbase, flat floor and premium lounge-inspired layout. The GV90 Neolun also introduces motorized front seats that can rotate 180 degrees when the vehicle is parked, allowing passengers to create a face-to-face seating arrangement.
Technology is another major highlight. The GV90 features a pop-up OLED Cinematic Display, a 25-inch Head-Up Display, Pleos Connect infotainment and the Gleo AI generative assistant. It also includes Remote Smart Parking Assist 3 and Memory Reversing Assist for easier maneuvering in narrow areas.
The cabin is equipped with a 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen Premier 3D audio system with Dolby Atmos, Ambient Glow lighting, massage seats and a heated windshield. The four-seat GV90 Neolun Executive Suite adds premium features such as a real wood floor, radiant heating inspired by traditional Korean “ondol,” privacy blinds, a Smart Vision Roof, refrigerator and integrated tables.
The exterior design takes inspiration from the traditional Korean moon jar, emphasizing clean surfaces, balanced proportions and restrained elegance. Measuring 5,285 mm in length, the GV90 features Genesis’ signature Two-Line lighting, large forged wheels and a minimalist rear design.
Genesis has also introduced the GV90 Neolun First Edition, a limited four-seat version featuring exclusive two-tone exterior finishes, premium wool cashmere trim and unique interior detailing.
With the GV90, Genesis is positioning its new flagship as a showcase of the brand’s future direction in electric mobility, luxury design, intelligent technology, safety and customer experience.
