Detroit, USA - General Motors, a Motor Vehicle Manufacturer, has completed the integration of ChargePoint into Energy Pass, further expanding the charging options available to its electric-vehicle customers. Accessible through the myChevrolet, myGMC and myCadillac apps, the platform brings multiple public charging services together in a single connected experience.
With ChargePoint now included, GM EV drivers can access both DC fast chargers and Level 2 charging stations across one of the largest public charging networks. Many supported locations also feature Plug & Charge technology, allowing compatible vehicles to begin charging and process payments automatically after being connected.
Energy Pass enables drivers to locate chargers, start charging sessions and make payments without managing multiple accounts or applications. With ChargePoint and other planned network integrations, GM expects the platform to provide access to around 70% of public DC fast chargers and approximately 60% of public Level 2 chargers in the United States.
The integration supports GM’s effort to make public EV charging more convenient and easier to use. By combining wider network access with fewer steps at the charging station, Energy Pass aims to improve the overall ownership experience for GM EV customers.
Alongside simplifying the public-charging experience, GM and ChargePoint have worked together for more than a year to expand fast-charging infrastructure across major US markets. The initiative focuses particularly on reducing “charging deserts,” where access to DC fast chargers remains limited.
The collaboration has already supported the development of hundreds of charging locations, with additional sites planned. Many are equipped with ChargePoint’s Omniport technology, allowing vehicles with either NACS or CCS1 connectors to use the same charging stall.
In Elmwood Township, Michigan, four charging stalls were installed near Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park, bringing DC fast-charging access to a county that previously had none. In Redding, California, sixteen NACS- and CCS-compatible stalls were added near the Sacramento River and Sundial Bridge.
Winter Park, Florida, received seven charging stalls near Orlando’s major attractions, while several fast-charging sites across upstate New York now connect destinations including Lake Placid, Niagara Falls, the Finger Lakes and Cooperstown.
