HD Construction Equipment Grows in Australia

Australia – HD Construction Equipment., a construction equipment manufacturer, is stepping up its expansion in Australia as demand for construction machinery continues to rise, following strong sales momentum after the merger of HD Hyundai’s construction equipment businesses.

Australian sales increased 56 percent year-on-year in the two months after the merger completed in January. Australia, which is the largest construction equipment market in Oceania with annual demand of around 25,000 units, has become a major focus market for the company’s growth strategy.

HD Hyundai sold 439 units in Australia in 2025 and is targeting sales of about 1,000 units this year. The company sees significant opportunity in the market as infrastructure investment and mining-related activity continue to support equipment demand.

Industry outlook also remains positive. According to Mordor Intelligence, Australia’s construction equipment market is expected to grow from $3.6 billion in 2026 to $4.5 billion by 2031, reflecting a compound annual growth rate of 4.5 percent. Growth is being supported by government-backed projects in roads, rail and energy, along with sustained demand from the country’s iron ore and lithium sectors.

To strengthen its position, HD Construction Equipment is expanding its focus on compact machinery, a segment that accounts for nearly half of total market demand. The company plans to grow its dealer network, improve localized products and services, and widen its portfolio by strengthening its mini excavator range while also introducing compact track loaders and dozers in Australia this year.

The company is also making use of financial backing from the Export-Import Bank of Korea to support its global expansion. The package includes funding support, preferential interest rates and higher credit limits aimed at improving competitiveness in overseas markets.
