Heuliez secures a contract to provide 200 electric buses to Marseille.

France- Heuliez Bus, the urban bus brand under the Iveco Group, has been awarded a contract worth 125 million euros by Régie des Transports Métropolitains (RTM), the public transport operator of Marseille. The contract involves the supply of 200 electric buses, marking a significant milestone in the extensive electrification efforts of Marseille's public transport network. This initiative aims to achieve a 100% electric fleet for over a third of RTM's buses by 2027, aligning with the city's ambitious energy transition objectives.

The chosen vehicles, the new generation GX 337 ELEC Heuliez buses, will feature roof rails allowing them to recharge via a descending pantograph, either at the depot or rapidly during service. This flexible and efficient charging solution addresses the diverse needs of the city's public transport system. The delivery plan includes an initial batch of 35 units expected by the end of 2024, with the remaining buses set to be supplied by 2027.

Domenico Nucera, President of the Bus Business Unit at Iveco Group said, pride in being chosen as a partner in Marseille's electrification project. He looks forward to supporting the city's transition to a more sustainable future, emphasizing the effectiveness of their electric mobility solutions in meeting decarbonization requirements for public transport operators across Europe.
