New Delhi - Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (Honda), an automotive manufacturer, has appointed Toshiyuki Yanagisawa as the new President and CEO of Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), effective October 1, 2026.

Yanagisawa currently serves as an Operating Executive at Honda, heads the company’s India Strategic Development Office and is also the CEO of Honda Digital Innovation India Pvt. Ltd. In his new position, he will jointly oversee the operations of HCIL and Honda Digital Innovation India.

Honda has identified India, along with North America and Japan, as one of its priority markets for future growth. The India Strategic Development Office has been developing market-specific strategies and implementation plans to expand the company’s presence in the country.

Honda’s initiatives for an India-focused strategic vehicle, scheduled for launch in 2028, have now moved into the execution phase. The leadership appointment is expected to support the implementation of these plans and strengthen coordination between Honda’s automotive and digital innovation businesses in India.

Yanagisawa has previously worked with Honda Cars India as part of his international assignments and brings extensive knowledge of the Indian automotive market, customer preferences and the wider business environment.

Takashi Nakajima, the current President and CEO of HCIL, will move to Honda’s regional headquarters at Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd. after completing his tenure in India.
