Gurugram -Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd., has launched the new Honda NX500 E-Clutch in India, introducing Honda’s advanced E-Clutch technology that enables clutch-free gear shifts while retaining the feel and control of a manual transmission motorcycle.
The key highlight of the motorcycle is Honda’s proprietary E-Clutch system, which uses electronic actuators to automatically operate the clutch during gear shifts and while bringing the motorcycle to a stop. Riders still shift gears manually using the foot-operated gear lever, but the clutch lever does not need to be engaged during normal riding. Honda has also retained the conventional clutch lever, allowing riders to switch to manual clutch operation whenever preferred.
Despite the addition of the electronic clutch hardware, the NX500 remains relatively lightweight in the middleweight adventure touring segment. The E-Clutch system adds only 3 kg, taking the motorcycle’s total kerb weight to 199 kg.
Mechanically, the motorcycle remains unchanged and continues to be powered by a 471 cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that delivers 46 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox designed to offer smooth highway cruising and touring performance.
The chassis and suspension setup are carried over from the standard model and include upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock suspension system. Braking duties are handled by twin 296 mm front disc brakes and a single 240 mm rear disc brake supported by dual-channel ABS.
On the technology front, the NX500 E-Clutch continues to feature a 5-inch TFT instrument display with smartphone connectivity and switchable traction control, maintaining its balance between touring practicality and rider-focused simplicity.
The motorcycle is available in White and Black colour options, and bookings are now open across authorised Honda BigWing dealerships in India.
