Bengaluru, India, Honda R&D (India) Private Limited (HRID), a subsidiary of Honda Motor Co., Ltd., dedicated to motorcycle and power product research and development in India, inaugurated its new Solution R&D Center.

Honda has set a global objective to attain carbon neutrality across its entire product and corporate operations by 2050. The company is actively pursuing efforts to transition a diverse range of its products to carbon-neutral power sources. Specifically within the motorcycle sector, Honda targets achieving carbon neutrality for all its motorcycle offerings by the 2040s.

In 2021, the Indian government announced at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (also known as 26th Conference of the Parties, COP26) that the country will work toward achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2070. In response to evolving environmental challenges, Honda recognizes the need to adapt. It aims not only to embrace electrification but also to innovate beyond conventional boundaries, delivering enhanced value and appealing products and services to customers.

The Solution R&D Center will advance the integration of cutting-edge mobility technologies into the development of electrified vehicles and focus on software and connected services. Through collaborative open innovation, it will harness the expertise and ideas of research and development firms.

Honda is committed to addressing societal challenges, including energy efficiency through its Triple Action to ZERO initiative (carbon neutrality, clean energy, and resource circulation), and the prevention of traffic accidents to achieve zero fatalities on the road, advancing towards a safer and more sustainable society.

Honda will continue to provide products with new added value that is uniquely Honda, through various technological advancements and innovations, bringing ‘the joy of freedom of mobility’ to its customers.
