Seoul, South Korea - Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai Motor), a motor vehicle manufacturer, has introduced the IONIQ V as its first dedicated IONIQ production model for China, while positioning the country as a key hub for EV development, and strengthened its long-term focus on the Chinese market at Auto China 2026.

As the automotive industry shifts quickly toward electrification, software-driven vehicles, and new mobility technologies, China remains a major center of innovation. Hyundai is now moving forward with a refreshed China strategy under its “In China, For China, To Global” approach. This positions China not only as an important sales market, but also as a key hub for future product development, innovation, and global competitiveness.

José Muñoz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, said “China is an essential market for Hyundai Motor Company. The world's most demanding EV consumers, the fastest development cycles, the deepest battery supply chain, and an advanced innovation ecosystem. That is why we are tripling down on our commitment to China. With significant investments into Beijing Hyundai, 20 new models coming over the next five years, the official launch of our IONIQ brand in China and the unveiling of IONIQ V, this is the most committed, the most ambitious, and the most exciting chapter we have ever written in this market. China is where the future of mobility is being defined, and Hyundai intends to help define it, In China, For China, and ultimately, for the world.”

Hyundai Motor has renewed its focus on China with a stronger product, investment, and localization strategy. At Auto China 2026, the company unveiled the all-new IONIQ V and officially introduced its all-electric IONIQ lineup for the Chinese market.

Hyundai and BAIC Group have committed 8 billion yuan to Beijing Hyundai to support future growth, local product development, and electrification. As part of this plan, Beijing Hyundai aims to launch 20 new models in China over the next five years, including BEVs and EREVs, while targeting 500,000 annual vehicle sales.

The IONIQ V is the first dedicated IONIQ production model for China and represents Hyundai’s “In China, For China, To Global” strategy. Based on the VENUS Concept, it introduces Hyundai’s new EV design language, “The Origin,” and offers a driving range of over 600 km under CLTC standards.

Designed for Chinese customers, the IONIQ V focuses on space, comfort, connectivity, and smart technology. Key features include a 27-inch 4K panoramic display, Horizon head-up display, Dolby Atmos audio, spacious cabin dimensions, advanced noise reduction, and refined ride comfort.

The model also integrates strong safety and intelligent driving features, including a reinforced body structure, nine airbags, Pedal Misapplication Safety Assist, an LLM-based Smart AI Assistant powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295, and advanced driver assistance technology developed with Momenta.

Hyundai is also improving the customer experience in China through dedicated IONIQ specialists, upgraded service programs, new retail formats, a transparent “One Price” policy, and expanded charging and battery service support.

Through local partnerships with companies such as CATL and Momenta, Hyundai aims to combine global engineering expertise with China’s fast-moving innovation ecosystem to deliver locally relevant and globally competitive electric vehicles.
