VDA President Hildegard Müller highlighted IAA Transportation 2024 as a showcase of the industry’s commitment to climate-neutral solutions through investment and innovation. However, she stressed that inadequate infrastructure, including charging stations, grid expansion, and hydrogen refueling stations, remains the main barrier to widespread adoption. Müller called for a clear roadmap, regular monitoring, and swift action from Berlin and Brussels to implement an infrastructure initiative.

A highlight of IAA Transportation 2024 was the Test Drives, allowing visitors to experience the latest emission-free commercial vehicles. Renowned manufacturers offered test drives in 60 vehicles, resulting in over 6,300 total test drives—nearly 15% above the previous record. The high demand, with slots fully booked early, showcased strong interest from both trade visitors and the public in new transportation technologies.

During the public weekend on September 21-22, IAA Transportation welcomed the general public with a special Driver and Family Weekend program, featuring test drives, music events, truck driving schools, and a truck racing show. The event demonstrated the industry’s readiness to advance climate-neutral mobility, showcasing existing technologies and solutions. IAA Transportation remains a key meeting point for the mobility and logistics sector, with the next event scheduled for September 15-20, 2026, in Hannover, preceded by Press Day on September 14.
