In Casablanca, alongside the existing tram routes, four-door, large-capacity articulated buses are enhancing transport infrastructure with room for up to 177 passengers each. These buses aim to improve traffic flow and reduce CO2 emissions. The new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system comprises two routes totaling 24.5 kilometers with 42 stops. Route 1 spans west to east, while Route 2 connects southwest to northeast districts, forming an interconnected network with other public transport systems in the city.
Improving urban mobility for Casablanca's residents
The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) routes in Casablanca cater to approximately 300,000 residents and are designed to reduce carbon emissions. With buses running every 5.5 minutes during peak times, the BRT system seamlessly connects with the tram network, ensuring efficient traffic flow and fast transfers. An Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) optimizes schedules and monitors routes via video surveillance, enhancing overall service quality. Staff at stops assist passengers, and subsidized ticket prices of six Dirhams (0.55 Euros) aim to promote public transport usage.
