      New Delhi/ Mumbai - The one going of 1300 long Delhi – Mumbai express highway is set to be amended as 12 lane green highways with provisions for dedicated electric line with overhead electric line to power the electric truck and bus through pantograph systems. The budget estimated is USD 13.16bn, it can be enhanced based on the technology availability.

                  In this context, pilot batch of 10km is getting completed by the end of this year. And the whole project is expected to completed before Jan 2024.

                  Suitable technology is getting evaluated and validated by various OEM’s to support this initiate.

      Nitin Gadkari, Union minister said that the government is mulling more measures to encourage the electric vehicles. “Pollution is a big concern and this is an era where we are using electricity as fuel.”

      “We are thinking of making it an e-highway and we are discussing with companies who have the technology in Germany, USA, Sweden about electric double decker bus and electric truck,” he added.
