Pickup trucks are sturdy, have outstanding off-road handling, pickup trucks are used for both commercial and passenger purposes
Date: October 9, 2023Yokohama, Japan- Isuzu Motors Limited., announced its significantly improved one-ton pickup truck “Isuzu D-MAX” in Thailand. Isuzu begin sales from October 12 in Thailand and continue to roll out the vehicle gradually across the rest of the globe.
Since its debut in October 2019, the D-MAX, now in its third generation, has been the go-to vehicle for drivers because to its powerful design, responsive driving on rugged terrain, and exceptional fuel economy. This new and greatly upgraded model aims to be a pickup truck that is better suited to the market by improving popular interior and exterior designs and satisfying the diverse needs of drivers worldwide.
Pickup trucks are sturdy, have outstanding off-road handling, and are very user friendly. As a result, pickup trucks are used for both commercial and passenger purposes, and global demand for them remains robust, with about 2,160,000 units sold in 2022, returning to pre-COVID (2019) levels. With this new, greatly enhanced model, Isuzu hopes to boost the D-MAX's market share in each country.
Mr. Shinsuke Minami, Isuzu President and COO, said that, “Isuzu is aggressively working to achieve a carbon-neutral society. In the future, Isuzu intends to manufacture a BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) pickup truck in Thailand. Isuzu will launch it in Europe first, followed by a phased rollout to satisfy the needs of each region, including Thailand. Thailand, Isuzu's largest market for pickup trucks, is expected to stay stable in the next years. To continue contributing to the people of Thailand, I want us to develop 'Transport' together, and I want Isuzu to be a firm that captures hearts and endures for eternity."
The main new product improvements are as follows
The exterior design improvements focus on a bold and aggressive look with a touch of sportiness and futurism. The front features a more powerful appearance with a raised grille and a bulging hood. The headlamps have a modern design with distinctive daytime running lights. The rear design highlights a three-level L-shaped LED tail light motif, giving a sense of width. Aerodynamics and functionality are enhanced with new air curtains on the front bumper and an enlarged spoiler on the tailgate.
The interior design focuses on a combination of strength and sophistication. The center cluster of the instrument panel adopts a U-shape for a powerful look and consistency with the infotainment display. The infotainment system is enhanced with a dial switch for improved user-friendliness. Signature miura fold pattern materials are used for the instrument panel, door inserts, and seats to create a modern and luxurious ambiance. The seven-inch TFT display and infotainment screen feature Isuzu's unique Graphical User Interface (GUI) for better usability, visibility, and a refined, high-quality feel.
New advanced safety features include a next-gen stereo camera. It detects oncoming pedestrians at intersections and triggers automatic braking if a threat is detected. When reversing from head-on parking, it also senses approaching vehicles and engages automatic braking if needed. A heating element prevents camera lens clouding in low temperatures. Additionally, the model offers convenience with congestion-following assistance and adaptive cruise control for manual transmission models.
The 4x4 driving performance has been enhanced with improved traction control. When a wheel loses contact with the ground, activating the rear differential lock allows for brake intervention on the raised tire and power distribution to the remaining tires, improving traction on rough terrain.
A new rough terrain mode has been introduced for optimal braking and engine control when driving on rough terrain. This mode ensures precise control of engine output and brake application, allowing for reliable traction by simply using the accelerator when setting off or accelerating on rough terrain.
