Torino, Italy- Iveco Group N.V., and Hyundai Motor Company., today unveiled the first IVECO BUS E-WAY H2 at Busworld 2023 in Brussels.

This new hydrogen-powered fuel cell electric bus is another concrete product of the mutually beneficial partnership established by the two companies in March 2022, and it underlines their commitment to accelerating the transition to net zero carbon mobility and transportation. The new model will add to the IVECO BUS portfolio of zero-emission solutions for cities, which already includes last generation Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs).

The E-WAY H2 is a 12-meter-long low-floor city bus outfitted with a 310-kW e-motor and an advanced fuel cell system provided by HTWO, Hyundai Motor Group's fuel cell system-based hydrogen business brand. The vehicle has four tanks with a combined storage capacity of 7.8 kg of hydrogen and one 69 kWh battery pack from FPT Industrial, an Iveco Group trademark specializing in powertrain technologies, driving range of 450km.

The E-WAY H2 supports both hydrogen refueling and plug-in battery charging. This hybrid mid-power idea, developed by IVECO BUS, not only optimizes the way the vehicle is charged, but also assists the on-board battery pack and fuel cell system in achieving maximum efficiency and longevity.

Mr. Ken Ramirez, Executive Vice President and Head of Global Commercial Vehicle & Hydrogen Business at Hyundai Motor Company, said that, Hyundai has been a hydrogen technology pioneer and leader for 25 years, and it is the world's field-proven leader in hydrogen fuel cell mobility and commercial transportation. We are certain that this energy source is one of the most important pillars for building a sustainable society, and we are thrilled to share this vision with our partner Iveco Group. "Today's unveiling reflects another concrete example of our strong partnership and commitment to accelerate the industry's net-zero transformation and deliver our mission of progress for humanity."

Mr. Domenico Nucera, President, Bus Business Unit, Iveco Group, said that, We are pleased to introduce our hydrogen-powered E-WAY H2. This exciting milestone in our sustainability journey is the result of our successful collaboration with Hyundai Motor Company, and it demonstrates that by combining our strengths, we can foster an environmentally friendly people transportation system that aids in the fight against climate change and creates a healthier future for future generations.
