New Delhi - J.C. Bamford Excavators Limited., a construction equipment manufacturer, has introduced a new version of its 403E ultra-compact electric loader, now featuring a fully glazed, heated cab while maintaining its zero-emissions performance.
The new machine features a fully glazed, heated cab designed for operator comfort in all weather conditions. It includes heated front and rear windscreens, a heated seat, and a three-speed blower with automatic controls. Despite these enhanced features, the cab is engineered to minimize battery power consumption, ensuring efficient performance without compromising its zero-emissions capability.
The JCB 403E, JCB's first fully electric ultra-compact wheeled loader, features a 20kWh lithium-ion battery, offering 4-5 hours of mixed-use operation. Ideal for farms and horticulture, it has a 972kg tipping load (1,090kg with a counterweight) and lift heights of 2.9m or 3.1m. Weighing around 2.6 tonnes, it can be easily transported on a 3.5-tonne trailer with a 4x4 SUV, pick-up, or light commercial vehicle.
Mr. John Smith, Agriculture managing director at JCB, said, “Providing a fully enclosed, warm and weather-proof working environment involved a lot more than just taking the cab from the 403 diesel and installing it on the all-electric version. A key requirement of any electrically-driven machine is a decent amount of work-time between charges; by designing special control functions for the 403E Full Cab, we meet that demand while keeping the operator warm and comfortable.”
The new JCB 403E Full Cab loader features a 2.2kW heater with three temperature settings and a “blower boost” for rapid warming. The heater automatically turns off if the cab doors are open to save battery power. In warmer months, the blower can circulate air with doors open or closed. A timer function pre-warms the cab for 30 minutes while charging to ensure it's ready for use. A heated seat enhances comfort while reducing heater reliance, and heated front and rear windscreens ensure clear visibility.
