Pennsylvania, United States - JLG Industries., a subsidiary of Oshkosh Corporation, has introduced the EC600AJ, a new electric articulating boom lift for construction. It features a 60-foot platform height and a 550-pound unrestricted platform capacity. The "EC" in its name signifies "electric construction."
Ms. Sara Vincent, Marketing Director at JLG, said, “We put that in the name to make sure that our construction company customers know it is designed to last a normal workday on a jobsite. It is designed to cover an eight-hour construction shift and charge overnight and be ready for the next day.”
The new boom is a complete redesign, and JLG will also offer a diesel version with 90% parts compatibility with the electric model. This simplifies servicing for rental customers and allows for future conversion from diesel to electric, helping to “future-proof your fleet.”
Demand for electric equipment is growing, especially outside the U.S. In the U.S., some project owners now require electric machines to meet emissions goals, minimize noise, or work quietly in sensitive areas like schools, hospitals, or residential neighborhoods at night.
The EC600AJ features a 60-foot platform height, a 36-foot horizontal reach, and an up-and-over height of 27 feet 1 inch. Its multiple articulating positions allow it to navigate over obstacles and operate efficiently in tight spaces. The jib has a 130-degree articulation range, while the boom offers a 400-degree non-continuous swing, enhancing maneuverability on complex job sites.
The EC600AJ features two-wheel and four-wheel steer, enabling a 4-foot 11-inch turning radius, and 40% gradeability with a 5-degree tilt cut-out. It is powered by two 10.7 kWh lithium-ion batteries and equipped with four-wheel-drive AC motors for rugged terrain. It also has non-marking, rough-terrain foam-filled tires and an advanced control system.
