John Deere Unveils TimberMatic Maps Auto Pickup for Skidders

Illinois, United States - Deere & Co., an agricultural machinery manufacturer, launches latest forestry technology, Auto Pickup feature for its skidder lineup. Exclusive to John Deere, Auto Pickup within TimberMatic Maps streamlines production data collection and improves job progress monitoring. Previously, operators had to manually update the display to track completed production. With this new feature, operators can save time and reduce manual input, allowing for more efficient operations with less engagement required.

Mr. Matt Flood, product marketing manager at John Deere, said, "This brand-new feature was developed to help meet our customer needs and boost efficiency and awareness in the woods, and we are confident that Auto Pickup will improve jobsites and operator performance upon first use. The technology will automatically collect critical jobsite data, taking the guesswork out of the collection process."

Auto Pickup simplifies data collection by allowing operators to activate it at the start of a shift with a single tap on the TimberMatic Maps display. Once activated, the feature remains on between key cycles unless manually turned off. This ensures that operators can stay focused on their tasks without needing to repeatedly reactivate the feature.

Once activated, the operator selects the landing for load placement, and Auto Pickup uses machine intelligence to monitor functions and ensure proper bunch pickup. As the operator collects a bunch, Auto Pickup automatically selects and adds it to the chosen landing after a preset time. This hands-free feature simplifies the collection process, reducing operator involvement.

With Auto Pickup, skidder operators no longer need to pause to track production, ensuring real-time updates on production and inventory as it moves to the loader. As the job progresses, data and logging routes are updated live in TimberMatic Maps, providing an accurate view of jobsite status. Meanwhile, owners, supervisors, and foremen can remotely monitor progress via TimberManager, offering full jobsite visibility without needing to be on-site.
