Winnipeg, Canada - K-Tec Earthmovers., a part of the K.A. Equipment Group, has introduced the K-Tec 1230, a 30-yard pull pan scraper offering higher self-loading productivity in a lighter frame.
Built on the proven 1228 platform, the new model combines finite element analysis (FEA) and field validation to achieve greater strength with less weight. Despite its lighter design, it maintains a 72,000-pound load rating and strong torsional rigidity.
In contractor field trials, the 1230 delivered:
- 16% more yards per hour in self-loading conditions.
- Faster cut times and higher average loads with dozer assist.
- 3–7% more yards per hour in train setups.
Operators reported smoother loading, cleaner discharge, and lower cycle times, aided by the scraper’s refined bowl geometry and taller cutting-edge clearance.
Operator-focused updates include a bolt-on push-block, optional push-roller, and slide blocks replacing ejector rollers for simpler maintenance. Larger pins, centralized grease points, and offset 23.5 R25 tires improve durability and ride quality.
Though its heaped capacity rises just two cubic yards over the 1228, the 1230 delivers up to 16% greater productivity in real-world use.
Mr. Mike Thiessen, Director of Marketing, said, "Every new K-Tec model represents another step forward in how we think about moving dirt. The 1230 shows what's possible when you combine engineering precision with real-world operator feedback — it's purpose-built to perform and built for the next generation of earthmovers."
