Karnataka- The Karnataka state budget, presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, highlights major investments in infrastructure, public transport, and social welfare initiatives. Key announcements include the redevelopment of Bengaluru's iconic Majestic Bus Stand, expansion of the suburban rail network, and significant investments in healthcare and housing projects.

Boost to Public Transport

To enhance sustainable mobility, the government has announced the introduction of 14,750 new electric buses under PM e-DRIVE, PMeBus Sewa, and Externally Aided Projects. Of these, 9,000 electric buses will be allocated to the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), ensuring improved connectivity within the city. Additionally, 1,000 new diesel buses will be inducted under the Gross Cost Contract (GCC) model, enhancing the state's transport capacity.

Infrastructure and Redevelopment

The budget includes ambitious plans for modernizing the Majestic Bus Stand, a vital hub for intercity and interstate transport. This redevelopment aims to enhance commuter convenience and improve traffic management in the area.

Healthcare and Housing Initiatives

In a significant move to improve healthcare infrastructure, the government announced the establishment of a 200-bed hospital to cater to the growing healthcare needs of Karnataka's population. Additionally, new housing projects have been proposed to provide affordable living solutions to residents across the state.

Investment in Research and Office Modernization

The budget also emphasizes research and innovation, allocating funds to support key research initiatives. Modernization of government offices has also been prioritized to improve administrative efficiency and public service delivery.
