Date: October 19, 2024Pune- Kawasaki Motors Pvt. Ltd., has officially launched the KLX230, the highly anticipated dual-sport motorcycle, set to debut in December 2024. Deliveries are expected to start in January 2025. As it will be manufactured locally in India, the motorcycle is expected to be competitively priced. Kawasaki has also opened bookings for the KLX230, requiring a minimum deposit of INR 5,000.
The KLX230 is equipped with a 233cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that delivers 17.9 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 18.3 Nm of torque at 6,400 rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. Positioned in the market between the Hero Xpulse 200 4V and the KTM Adventure 250, the KLX230 lacks direct competition.
As a dedicated dirt bike, the KLX230 is designed for off-road performance, featuring 37mm telescopic front forks with a generous wheel travel of 240 mm. The rear suspension consists of a preload-adjustable mono-shock with 250 mm of travel. It sports a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel, equipped with a 265 mm front disc brake and a 220 mm rear disc brake. With a high ground clearance of 265 mm and a saddle height of 880 mm, the KLX230 is built for serious off-roading and offers excellent maneuverability at a weight of just 139 kg.
The motorcycle includes dual-purpose ABS, which can be toggled for on-road and off-road conditions. Riders can disable the front and rear brake ABS for off-road riding using a switch on the left handlebar. The digital LCD instrument panel displays a speedometer, odometer, dual trip meters, fuel gauge, clock, smartphone notifications for calls and messages, and a Bluetooth indicator.
Smart features accessible via a mobile app allow riders to monitor battery voltage and view a Riding Log that tracks GPS routes and vehicle performance. Through the Rideology app, users can connect with other enthusiasts and maintain a Maintenance Log that records refueling, lubrication, oil changes, part replacements, and periodic inspections.
