Pune - India Kawasaki Motors Private Limited (IKM)., a motorcycles manufacturer, has introduced the Kawasaki KLX230 in India, marking the most expensive road-legal dual-sport motorcycle currently available in the country.

The Kawasaki KLX230 is equipped with a 233cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that generates 18.1hp at 8,000rpm and 18.3Nm of peak torque at 6,400rpm. This engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, ensuring smooth and efficient power delivery for both on-road and off-road conditions. The bike comes with a modest 7.6-litre fuel tank, suitable for light to moderate riding distances. Its suspension setup includes a 37mm telescopic front fork offering 240mm of travel, providing excellent shock absorption and control, and a rear monoshock with 250mm of travel, designed to handle rough terrains and enhance rider comfort.

The KLX230 comes with a basic feature set, including a monotone LCD with Bluetooth connectivity and dual-channel ABS. Weighing 139kg, it’s relatively light but has a tall 880mm seat height, with an optional lower seat available for shorter riders.

The KLX230 currently competes with the Hero Xpulse 200 4V and Xpulse 200 4V Pro. This positions the Kawasaki KLX230 at nearly double the price of its rivals, making it a premium offering in the dual-sport segment. While the KLX230 is undoubtedly a capable motorcycle, boasting advanced engineering and performance-oriented features, its steep price tag and Kawasaki's relatively limited-service network in India could present significant challenges for potential buyers.
