Kenworth upgrades the T880S Performance Hood with a longer design, and improved aerodynamics for better performance and compliance.

Kirkland, Washington - Kenworth Truck Company., a commercial vehicles manufacturer, has introduced the new T880S Performance Hood for its T880 trucks.
The updated T880S features a longer hood, a larger cooling module, and a sleek, aerodynamic profile. Engineered to accommodate higher horsepower engines while ensuring compliance with bridge weight laws, the new hood enhances both performance and efficiency.
The new T880S Performance Hood is designed to support higher-horsepower engines and is the first T880 model compatible with the Cummins X15 diesel engine, which delivers up to 605 horsepower and 2,050 lb-ft of torque. It also comes standard with PACCAR’s MX-13 engine, offering a peak output of 510 horsepower and 1,850 lb-ft of torque.
Mr. Kyle Kimball, Director of marketing at Kenworth, said, “The T880S is the favored configuration for customers in ready-mix, dump and other applications were staying compliant with bridge-formula laws is a concern. By allowing more powertrain options for the T880S Performance Hood, customers with the highest power or payload demands can take advantage while still maintaining excellent visibility with the sloped hood design.”
The new 121.7-inch hood improves weight distribution while meeting bridge law requirements. Its expanded 1,440-square-inch cooling module and optimized airflow enhance cooling efficiency.
The T880S Performance Hood showcases a refreshed design with an aluminum mesh grille available in polished or black finishes, a newly styled stainless steel grille surround, stainless-steel fender closeout panels, and chrome or black air intake spears. In addition to the T880S Performance Hood, Kenworth provides three other hood configurations: the T880, T880 MX-Optimized Hood, and T880S MX-Optimized Hood.
