Date: January 13, 2025
New Delhi - Kia India Pvt. Limited., an automobile manufacturer, will showcase the Syros, a compact SUV, and the EV6 facelift at Auto Expo 2025. Kia’s existing models, including the EV9 electric SUV, will also be on display.
The Syros, Kia's second compact SUV after the Sonet, focuses on rear seat comfort. With a longer wheelbase, tallboy design, and segment-first features like sliding and reclining rear seats and a seat squab ventilation function, it stands apart from other compact SUVs.
The Syros is powered by a 120hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine or a 116hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine, with an electric version expected in about a year. Its design is inspired by the flagship EV9 SUV, though its bold styling may divide opinions. From the side, the Syros look evokes memories of the Skoda Yeti from the early 2000s.
Kia will showcase the EV6 facelift at the Auto Expo, featuring a new, angular front fascia, updated bumper, and revised grille. The interior sees tech upgrades like a digital rear-view mirror, improved head-up display, and AI-based navigation. It also gets a larger 84kWh battery, offering a claimed range of 494km, up from 475km. The RWD variant produces 229hp, while dual-motor versions deliver 325hp. The EV6 facelift also includes frequency-selective dampers for improved ride comfort.
Kia’s flagship model, the EV9, will also be showcased at the Auto Expo. This imposing, 5-meter-long SUV features a luxurious 6-seater layout with captain’s chairs in the second row, offering a premium experience. The India-spec EV9 is equipped with a 99.8kWh battery, powering dual electric motors that generate a total of 384hp. With an ARAI-certified range of 561km, the EV9 combines impressive performance and long-distance capability, making it a standout in Kia’s lineup.
