Seoul, South Korea- Kia Corporation., has unveiled the EV2, a new electric B-segment SUV that becomes the brand’s most compact and accessible EV to date. Designed to blend bold styling, modern technology, and everyday practicality, the EV2 is positioned as the entry point to Kia’s growing electric range. The model is set to arrive in Ireland this spring, with pricing and full specifications to be confirmed closer to launch.

Building on the momentum of Kia’s recent EV success led by models such as the EV6, EV9, EV3, and EV4 the EV2 brings the brand’s electric expertise into one of Europe’s most competitive categories: the B-SUV segment. By expanding into this high-volume space, Kia aims to strengthen its position in an EV market expected to grow strongly toward the end of the decade.

The EV2 follows Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, adopting upright cues from larger EVs while keeping a city-friendly footprint. Measuring 4,060 mm in length, it features vertical daytime running lights, the latest Star Map Signature Lighting, a strong shoulder line, and pronounced wheel arches to emphasize its SUV character. Buyers will be offered wheel sizes from 16 to 19 inches, along with a range of exterior colour choices.

Inside, Kia describes a calm and open cabin inspired by a “Picnic Box” concept, combining fabric-rich materials with an intuitive layout. A wraparound dashboard enhances comfort and the sense of space, while Kia’s latest triple-screen ccNC infotainment system anchors the interior: a 12.3-inch driver display, a 5.3-inch climate control screen, and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen. Ambient lighting and eco-focused materials complete the modern, lounge-like feel.

Practicality is a major focus, highlighted by an optional sliding and reclining rear seat system. With the rear seat pushed back, rear legroom extends to a segment-leading 958 mm; moved forward, boot capacity increases to 403 litres. The EV2 also adds a 15-litre frunk, positioned as class-leading for the segment.

Kia will offer the EV2 with two battery choices: a 42.2 kWh standard-range pack and a 61.0 kWh long-range pack. Kia expects up to 317 km of range for the standard model and up to 448 km for the long-range version (WLTP figures pending). Both versions use a 400V architecture and support rapid DC charging around 29 minutes for the standard-range model and roughly 30 minutes for the long-range version as well as 11 kW AC charging and an optional 22 kW capability.

Sustainability also plays a key role, with Kia applying its “ten material solutions” across the car, including bio- and BTX-free paint, bio-based plastics, bio-PU seat materials, and carpets made from recycled PET sourced from fishing nets. The EV2 will be built at Kia’s Žilina plant in Slovakia, becoming the second fully electric model produced there after the EV4. Production will start in two phases later this year, with standard-range models arriving in Ireland in Spring, followed by long-range and GT-line variants in Autumn.
