Date: September 20, 2023München, Germany- Knorr-Bremse AG., a manufacturer of braking systems and supplier of safety-critical sub-systems for rail and commercial, expanding its capacity in India, covering both rail and commercial vehicle sectors. A new building complex was officially inaugurated at the cross-divisional TCI development center in Pune.
One of the main innovation hubs for the Group is the Knorr-Bremse Technology Center India (TCI), which offers a comprehensive range of R&D, engineering, and IT services to Knorr-Bremse Group sites globally. The most recent construction endeavor, which represents an expenditure in the upper single-digit million-euro area, aims to further solidify Knorr-Bremse's position in the Indian market.
Mr. Marc Llistosella, CEO of Knorr-Bremse AG, said that, “The expansion of our Technology Center India is a very important investment for Knorr-Bremse. We want to drive growth through our Rail and Truck divisions – both in India, as an emerging mobility market, and in other key markets. As a global development center, the expanded TCI will play a central role in enhancing our business and creating pioneering transportation technologies.”
Mr. Arun Bhat, Managing Director of TCI, said that, “Our R&D capabilities will be improved by the new building in terms of both project volume and staff. India's significance as a prospective market and a highly desirable engineering and development hub is highlighted by our investment. We would be able to manage the predicted market growth in India and globally and satisfy complex consumer needs as a result.
At the first tech event, a presentation addressed a number of product improvements that, owing to the engineering expertise of Knorr-Bremse's engineers, will promote secure, effective, environmentally friendly travel on India's roads and rails.
Products from Rail Vehicle Systems were highlighted in the presentation, including AirSupply Smart, an intelligent, demand-driven compressed air supply for brake systems that is quieter and more energy-efficient. The most recent model of CubeControl was one of the additional goods. Key braking system components are intelligently connected by the brake control system. Rail mobility is becoming more effective and accessible thanks to its adaptability, simplicity of maintenance, and scalable compatibility with all types of passenger trains worldwide.
The GSAT Global Scalable Air Treatment system and the GSBC Global Scalable Brake Control ECU 2 were two Commercial Vehicle Systems products highlighted in the presentation. GSAT is a modular compressed-air treatment system for brake systems on commercial vehicles. It includes numerous features and may be scaled to meet all commercial vehicle types in the world. A variety of driver assistance features and advanced vehicle dynamics control are made possible by the GSBC electronic brake control system.
