Munich, Germany- Knorr-Bremse AG., is strengthening its position in the commercial vehicle steering market with another series production order for its Electric Power Steering system in the Asia-Pacific region.

The new order marks a further milestone for Knorr-Bremse’s EPS technology, with start of production scheduled for 2028. The advanced steering system is designed to improve steering performance, energy efficiency and CO₂ reduction by consuming energy only when the vehicle is being steered.

Mr. Bernd Spies, Member of the Executive Board of Knorr-Bremse AG and globally responsible for the Commercial Vehicle Systems Division, said the company’s EPS is a key enabler for e-mobility and automated driving in commercial vehicles. He noted that the additional series order demonstrates the role of Knorr-Bremse’s innovations in shaping future mobility, with EPS production orders now secured for commercial vehicles and buses in both Europe and Asia.

Based on a “power-on-demand” principle, the EPS helps reduce energy and fuel consumption across different powertrain technologies. Compared with conventional steering systems, it can deliver energy savings of up to 90 percent, supporting lower CO₂ emissions and reduced operating costs.

The system can also be adapted to customer-specific installation spaces, allowing seamless integration into existing vehicle architectures without major modifications for manufacturers. Its Smart Safety concept further helps reduce costs by eliminating the need for a redundant power supply.
