Pune - Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL), the unified Indian subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, has started production of the new Volkswagen Taigun at its Pune plant. The launch supports the Group’s “Make in India, for India and the world” vision with strong localisation, precise manufacturing, and a clear focus on Indian customer needs.

The new Volkswagen Taigun builds on its predecessor with a bolder design and a more premium appeal. Designed for India’s varied driving conditions, it continues to offer Volkswagen’s signature European driving dynamics, high comfort, and 5-star safety.

Mr. Piyush Arora, Managing Director & CEO, Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited, said, “The start of production of the new Volkswagen Taigun underscores the maturity of our world-class manufacturing ecosystem in India. Our Indian manufacturing facilities are geared to deliver global-quality vehicles with high levels of localization, enabling us to respond quickly to what customers demand in India and in export markets. The Taigun stands as a perfect example of this approach, engineered in line with Volkswagen’s global benchmarks and produced in India with a sharp focus on efficiency, quality, and safety. As we roll out the new Taigun, we are further solidifying India’s position as a strategic production and export base for the Group.”

Mr. Nitin Kohli, Brand Director, Volkswagen India, said, “Since its launch, the Taigun has been instrumental in strengthening the brand’s SUV strategy. It has played a pivotal role in bolstering our product portfolio for discerning Indian buyers and their aspirations. The new Taigun is central to our strategic plan for the model line-up that will drive meaningful growth. The start of production for the new Taigun at our Chakan facility is a moment of great pride for us. It continues to signify our commitment to the Indian consumers who choose to own premium German-engineered products. We are certain the new Taigun will build on the success of its predecessor and elevate customer experience.”

Since its launch in 2021, the Volkswagen Taigun has built a solid reputation for performance, comfort, and safety, becoming a trusted SUV in India and overseas markets. More than 143,000 units have already been produced in India, with nearly 30% exported globally. With production of the new model now underway, the Taigun is set to further strengthen Volkswagen’s SUV lineup with a fresh mix of style, practicality, comfort, and performance.
