Škoda Starts Series Production of New Peaq Electric SUV

Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic - Škoda Auto, an automobile manufacturer, has started series production of the all-new Peaq at its main manufacturing facility in Mladá Boleslav. The electric SUV is assembled on the same flexible production line as the fully electric Elroq and Enyaq, alongside the combustion-powered Octavia, enabling Škoda to optimize production efficiency and adjust output according to market demand. Since its market launch in June, the Peaq has generated strong customer interest, with nearly 8,500 orders recorded by the end of July. In its highest specification, the model features a 91 kWh gross-capacity battery, the largest ever fitted to a Škoda vehicle, delivering more than 640 km of driving range. The battery systems for the Peaq are also assembled at Škoda Auto’s new battery facility in Mladá Boleslav.

Flexible Production Across Mladá Boleslav and Kvasiny

The all-new Škoda Peaq has become the fourth model to be assembled on the main production line at Škoda Auto’s Mladá Boleslav plant. Originally configured for combustion-engine vehicles, the line has been extensively upgraded to accommodate fully electric models. The Enyaq was the first EV to enter production there in 2020, followed by the Elroq in January 2025 and now the Peaq.

All three electric models are produced alongside the combustion-powered Octavia Combi. Since May 2026, the Octavia Combi has also been manufactured at Škoda’s Kvasiny facility, together with the Octavia liftback. This two-plant production setup allows the carmaker to adjust output more flexibly in response to shifts in market demand and potential supply-chain disruptions.

The production redistribution has also created additional capacity at Mladá Boleslav for electric vehicles. In the first half of 2026, fully electric models accounted for nearly 23% of all Škoda vehicles produced at the company’s Czech manufacturing sites.

Production Line Upgraded for Škoda’s Largest Model

As the largest vehicle produced by Škoda since joining the Volkswagen Group, the Peaq required several modifications to the existing assembly line. Larger production skids were introduced to improve workplace ergonomics and safety, while a dedicated manipulator was installed to support the fitting of the third-row seats.

Škoda also carried out targeted upgrades across the press shop, body shop and paint shop to ensure efficient material flow and uninterrupted production. The Peaq is based on Volkswagen Group’s Modular Electric Drive Matrix (MEB), the same architecture used by the Enyaq and Elroq, enabling manufacturing synergies across the three electric models.

Peaq Strengthens Škoda’s Large Electric SUV Offering

In its highest specification, the Peaq features a 91 kWh gross-capacity battery with 86 kWh of usable energy, making it the largest traction battery fitted to a Škoda electric vehicle to date. The battery system is also manufactured at Mladá Boleslav and provides a driving range of more than 640 kilometres. A smaller 63 kWh gross, 59 kWh usable battery is also offered.

The model is available with power outputs ranging from 150 kW to 220 kW and can be configured with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. Measuring 4.87 metres in length with a wheelbase of nearly three metres, the Peaq is Škoda’s largest and most spacious SUV and marks the brand’s entry into the large SUV segment.

As Škoda’s new flagship SUV, the Peaq introduces features including flush door handles, a panoramic roof with Dynamic Shade Control and bidirectional charging. Customer demand has been encouraging, with nearly 8,500 orders recorded by the end of July.

Škoda Expands Electric Portfolio with Peaq and Epiq

Alongside the Peaq, Škoda has also introduced the Epiq, an entry-level electric urban crossover manufactured in Pamplona, Spain, as part of the Volkswagen Group’s Brand Group Core Electric Urban Car Family programme.

The launch of both models broadens Škoda’s electric vehicle range and supports the brand’s expansion in Europe, where it ranked as the second-best-selling automotive brand during the first half of 2026.
