North Yorkshire, UK - KRM (Keith Rennie Machinery Ltd)., an agricultural machinery distributor, has expanded its lineup with the launch of the Sprinter 8500P, a high-capacity combined shredder designed for farmers and contractors working on set-aside land, pasture topping, and field margin maintenance.

The new Sprinter 8500P integrates a 2.8-meter front-mounted flail mower with two 3-meter rear flail heads, delivering an 8.5-meter total working width. It is compatible with tractors ranging from 200 to 400 horsepower.

Built on KRM’s proven flail mower technology, the Sprinter 8500P features steel-housed roller and rotor bearings, a central gearbox with internal safety clutch, a heavy-duty multi V-belt drive, replaceable wear sheets and a fixed counter blade for durability. Its 1.6 kg hammer flails, mounted on a 195 mm rotor spinning at over 2250 rpm, offer both fine-cut performance and the strength to manage dense scrub and woody material up to 75 mm in diameter.

A standout feature of the Sprinter 2800 front mower design is its pull-type mounting. The arched headstock connects above the flail mower, allowing the unit to float over uneven ground and maintain consistent cutting height.

The twin rear flail heads are suspended from their midpoint to ensure balance and can pivot by ±3 degrees to follow ground contours. KRM’s crossbow safety system, using a central leaf spring, enables the heads to break back by 8 degrees when encountering an obstacle—equivalent to 600 mm of movement—before automatically returning to the working position.

Weighing 3,100 kg, the Sprinter 8500P is equipped with a Cat 3-4N linkage. For transport, the unit hydraulically folds to less than 3 meters wide, with automatic safety locks securing the flail heads. A 15-centimeter overlap between front and rear cutting units ensures complete coverage even when deviating from a straight path.

With its blend of precision, strength and wide coverage, the Sprinter 8500P aims to deliver reliability and productivity for high-demand vegetation management operations.
