Werlte, Germany- Krone trailers are Fahrzeugwerk Bernard Krone GmbH & Co. KG., a commercial vehicle division, has strengthened its presence in the UK rental trailer market with a further consignment of Box Liner skeletal trailers delivered to HB Commercial, the Ipswich-based commercial vehicle service, parts, rentals, and sales group.
The latest addition expands HB Commercial’s rental fleet and reinforces the company’s position as one of the UK’s largest single providers of Krone container carriers. With depots in Ipswich, Harwich, Felixstowe, Bury St Edmunds, and Witham, HB Commercial is well placed to support operators across East Anglia and the Southeast, particularly those serving the busy port corridors of Harwich and Felixstowe.
Mr. Jono Scott, Head of Business Development at HB Commercial, the company was among the earliest adopters of Krone’s Box Liner skeletal trailers. He noted that strong demand has continued over the past five to six years, driven by the trailer’s loading flexibility and its suitability for demanding ferry-based pick-up-and-drop operations.
Manufactured by Krone in Germany, the Box Liner was developed with close input from the Krone UK sales team to meet the needs of UK and Irish operators. Its sliding chassis and 10-tonne impact-resistant underrun bumper allow it to be quickly adjusted for carrying standard dry freight and tank containers, supporting faster and more efficient operations.
The trailers are also fitted with Krone telematics and a Tyre Pressure Management System, giving operators access to real-time diagnostics that can help cut downtime and reduce running costs. Krone says the trailers combine practical design with long-term durability, backed by a 10-year guarantee against corrosion perforation.
Optional Krone Telematics packages also allow fleet operators to track tyre pressures, trailer mileage, maintenance schedules, empty or low-load miles, braking system health, and trailer location. Automatic alerts for ABS and EBS faults further support faster maintenance response and improved fleet control.
Scott said HB Commercial’s long-term supply partnership with Krone continues to deliver a strong standard of product and service. He added that, for both rental and purchase customers, the company provides complete backup support including Krone spare parts, generator sets, MOT, maintenance, refurbishment, accident repairs, tyres, and trailer washing from a single location.
