Werlte, Germany- Fahrzeugwerk Bernard KRONE GmbH & Co. KG., a manufacturer of commercial trailers, semi-trailers, and container chassis, has supplied a new Profi Liner lifting-roof curtainsider to Bruce Express Ltd., expanding the UK family-run operator’s loading flexibility for a wider range of freight. A long-time KRONE customer, Bruce Express now runs 10 KrONE trailers and 12 tractor units across its UK and European operations, and selected the latest addition for its robust build and practical, productivity-focused features.

Delivered by Krone Trailer UK, the Profi Liner is equipped with a hydraulically operated lifting roof that can be raised by up to 500 mm at each of the four corner posts, enabling easier loading of taller or irregular cargo. The sliding roof design also allows top loading, with adjustable front and rear roof heights to help clear oversized freight.

Mr. Bradley Bruce, Managing Director of Bruce Express, said, “The lifting and sliding roof system opens up new opportunities for us. The trailers are very flexible and truly the best of both worlds, making it much easier to load agricultural, building, and machine parts, as well as other miscellaneous freight.”

With the roof closed, the trailer offers an internal height of 2.75 m, while side and rear access heights measure 2.595 m supporting efficient handling of palletised and bulk loads. The trailer also features KRONE Trusted tyres with Smart Tyre Monitoring, providing real-time tracking of tyre pressure and temperature to improve safety, reduce downtime, and support fuel efficiency on long-haul routes.

Load security is enhanced through the KRONE Multi Lock system, offering multiple strapping points along each side rave so cargo can be secured at virtually any position along the trailer bed. “These practical features make a real difference day to day,” Bruce added, noting that KRONE’s service and support consistently aligns equipment with operational needs.

The fleet upgrade also coincides with Bruce Express’s 50-year anniversary, marked by the addition of a high-spec Mercedes tractor unit to operate with the new KRONE trailer. The curtainsider is finished with customised lighting and polished Alcoa ‘Dura Bright’ alloy wheels, creating a premium tractor-trailer combination designed to handle more complex contracts efficiently.
