LAS VEGAS, USA – Leica Geosystems., a part of Hexagon AB, and Liebherr Group., a construction equipment manufacturer, have expanded their long-standing collaboration by integrating Leica’s sensor chain as standard on Liebherr’s Generation 8 mobile and crawler excavators.

The factory-installed solution forms the foundation for Liebherr’s machine control guidance systems, supporting functions such as weighing systems and bucket fill assist while delivering 2D guidance through the in-cab display. Contractors can also choose optional 3D machine control, available either factory-installed or as a later upgrade.

Most Generation 8 excavators will feature Leica’s 2D machine control as standard, eliminating the need for aftermarket installation and reducing downtime. Customers can also order machines in 3D-ready or full 3D configurations, including dual GNSS setups and Leica MC1 technology, enabling future upgrades without additional machine downtime.
