Bulle, Switzerland - LIEBHERR-INTERNATIONAL AG., a heavy machinery manufacturer, has introduced new features and assistance systems for its Generation 8 crawler excavators, aimed at improving performance, energy efficiency and safety in line with market requirements.
A key update is the LPE mode (Liebherr Power Efficiency), now standard on R 922 to R 945 Generation 8 models. The system continuously optimizes hydraulics and the diesel engine, reducing fuel consumption by up to 10 percent without affecting productivity. Operators can store preferred settings and access temporary performance boosts when needed.
Liebherr has also introduced a new diesel exhaust fluid filling pump that allows ground-level filling, reducing spillage risks, saving time and improving operator safety by eliminating the need to climb onto the machine.
The Leica 2D control system is now standard and fully integrated into the main display, providing colour-coded guidance for levelling and earthmoving with accuracy of up to 0.79 inches. The system is expandable to 3D-ready options for higher precision on complex jobs.
Additional assistance systems include the bucket filling assistant, which automates bucket filling to optimize excavation cycles and prevent stalling, and an integrated weighing device that measures loads in real time with around 2 percent accuracy, helping avoid overloading and fines. Both systems are available from the factory or via software updates, with 500 hours of complimentary use offered.
Safety is further enhanced by the Skyview 360-degree system, which uses four heated, high-resolution cameras to provide a complete view around the machine. Available as a factory or retrofit option, the system improves visibility and obstacle detection, especially in confined work areas.
Introduced globally in 2019, Liebherr’s Generation 8 crawler excavators feature a redesigned architecture focused on efficiency, ergonomics and ease of maintenance. The range continues to evolve as Liebherr advances performance, reliability and ease of use.
